A log splitter develops extreme crushing force at the wedge — enough to take a hand or finger instantly. Operate it with two hands on the controls so both hands are clear of the wedge, position the log with the controls released, never hold or steady a log near the wedge by hand, and keep everyone else well away — one operator only. Never override or tie down the two-hand safety controls. A petrol engine gives off exhaust and must run outdoors only; an electric model must not be used in the wet and should run through an RCD. Keep the machine on firm, level ground, maintain the hydraulic oil per the manual, and wear eye protection, stout gloves and steel-toe boots. Read the manual before use. CE marked where applicable.
